Founded in 1987 by its President, William J. Harrison, New England Golf Corporation has grown to become a leading provider of golf course management services in New England. The successful implementation of capital improvement plans and marketing initiatives, the presence of professional and experienced staff, and the adherence to an aggressive maintenance program have all helped transform six poorly managed and maintained golf courses into six professionally managed and expertly maintained golf courses. The result has been a financial success for the cities and towns in which we operate, and a great golfing experience for the members and guests who support our facilities.
Since 1980, William J. Harrison has managed Lost Brook Golf Club in Norwood, Massachusetts. Lost Brook Golf Club is a challenging eighteen-hole golf course providing pull carts for rent, a small snack bar, and a limited pro shop. It is a great course for golfers of all abilities but has proved especially attractive for beginners, juniors, and women. In fact, more than 450 women participate in ten different leagues held each week during the golf season.
In 1988, the contract to manage Pinecrest Golf Club in Holliston, Massachusetts was unanimously awarded to New England Golf Corporation over five other competitive bids. Pinecrest Golf Club is an eighteen-hole municipal golf course with a full restaurant, driving range, pro shop, and a fleet of forty-two golf carts for rent. Substantial improvements have been made to the golf course over the last fifteen years, including the construction of a new clubhouse and maintenance facility, the installation of a new automatic irrigation system, and the construction of a new practice range 300 yards long with twenty-five grass hitting stations.
Pine Meadows Golf Club in Lexington, Massachusetts is a nine-hole, par 35 golf course measuring over 3000 yards. Golf carts and pull carts are available for rent, while the clubhouse offers a limited pro shop and food and beverage menu. Pine Meadows Golf Club has proved to be a great course for beginners and seniors as well as advanced players, and its attractive layout and excellent location have drawn approximately 48,000 golfers each year.
Minnechaug Golf Club, located in Glastonbury, Connecticut, is a nine-hole, municipal golf course measuring approximately 3,000 yards. The course provides an interesting and challenging layout for all golfers, highlighted by its island green on the eighth hole. New England Golf Corporation managed the entire facility for the years 1998 through 2006.
In June of 1997, the City of New Haven unanimously awarded New England Golf Corporation the contract to manage Alling Memorial Golf Club for a five-year period. Alling Memorial Golf Club is an eighteen-hole, championship municipal golf course measuring approximately 6,500 yards with a fleet of sixty-five golf carts for rent and a full restaurant. Over the years we have hosted the USGA Junior Qualifying, USGA Mid-Amateur Qualifying, and numerous Connecticut State Golf Association events. In 2005 we managed a $1.2M golf course renovation project that included the reconstruction of all tees, bunkers, and cart paths as well as improvements to the irrigation system and drainage. More than 53,000 rounds of golf are played at Alling Memorial Golf Club each year, making it the second most played public golf course in the state of Connecticut.
